Dr. Alex Orton, ND
After struggling for years with severe anxiety and digestive issues, I began my journey into naturopathic medicine seeking my own healing. In college, my entire paradigm shifted when I learned about industrial monocropping and it’s devastating effects on soil health and biodiversity. That led me to Colorado to study sustainability and learn a systems-based approach for solving complex multi-variable problems in society. Ultimately, the program taught me to take personal responsibility for my actions and their effects on the environment and other people. This self-healing pursuit culminated in my discovery of naturopathic medicine, a holistic systems-based approach for addressing the root cause of disease. By tapping into my own self-healer, I was able to understand myself more deeply then ever before, resolving my chronic problems. I firmly believe that the only way to heal society and the planet is to heal ourselves. I started Haven, a holistic health center in Chicago, to help people find this same healing within.
